In keeping with our tradition of producing classic and family friendly shows, Footlight is pleased to announce our 2012 fall show will be Grease. The musical was first written in 1971 and made famous by the 1978 movie starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. The songs of Grease are still sung by everyone of all ages.

Vaudeville Turns 35!

2012 marks the 35th Anniversary of Footlight Theatre’s Vaudeville show. Back in 1977, Footlight Theatre and the Burnaby Village museum worked together to produce a good old fashioned Vaudeville show, to entertain the summer patrons. Since then we’ve been delighting audiences with our classic songs from the American Songbook, crazy antics, cheesy jokes and some can-can kicking dances!

Footlight’s 2011 Holiday Production

A Whole Lotta Latkes was a play about two families -one Jewish and one Christian. The adults are forced to leave their children on Christmas Day. As a result, the children decided to spend the day together and in the process learn about each other’s traditions. The play shows that though they have different traditions, the families are startlingly similar.

Wizard of Oz a Roaring Success

Last year, we challenged ourselves by bringing one of the most technically difficult shows, an all-time classic, The Wizard of Oz, to the Michael J. Fox Theatre. Over 5,000 people came to see our show, and we couldn’t have done it without the tremendous support and dedication from our production team and over 100 volunteers.
