It’s one of the best-loved musicals of all time: the tale of strict Captain von Trapp (Steve Maddock), his seven children, and the rebellious, warm-hearted young woman (Bree Greig) who changes their lives, all set against the backdrop of 1930s Austria and the looming shadow of the Second World War.

This year Footlight Theatre Company is presenting a play called “Of Course there are Fairies” written by Karin Asbrand. This is a short play about an orphan who brings the meaning of giving to a family who were not going to celebrate Christmas.

With summer well upon us, the annual Vaudeville show produced by Footlight is again running strong at the Burnaby Village Museum. What a great way to spend a summer afternoon enjoying the music, jokes and dancing of Vaudeville while exploring the historic Burnaby Village Museum. Shows are still running Sunday afternoons as well as Labour Day afternoon. Admission to the show is included with park entrance.
